PANA inducts its 2009 officers

The Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) jumpstarts 2009 with the induction of its new Board of Directors and new PANA Foundation Board of Trustees at the Bahia Room, Intercontinental Manila in Makati City, last January 30, 2009.

Charmaine Canillas, re-elected PANA president and advertising and promotions director of Petron Corporation opened the Induction ceremony with her President’s Report. She reported on the association’s 2008 achievements and announced PANA’s direction for 2009. “PANA will be spurred by the momentum of 2008 to fuel it through an even more demanding year. By sustaining strong partnerships within the membership, with our colleagues in the ad industry, and with the consuming public, we can overcome the global economic crunch, the restrictions of limited budgets, and the pettiness of parochial concerns so that PANA can sail smoothly towards a new decade.”

Thereafter, keynote address speaker, Kenneth Yang, president of Golden Arches Development Corporation (McDonald’s Philippines), took the stage after being introduced by the same company’s vice president, Margot Torres, who is also PANA’s vice president.

Yang, too, stressed the importance of partnership during these times. “I believe the significance of partnerships and its synergy is present in the advertising industry as you enforce equality and cooperation among the different sectors of this self-regulated industry. The crisis today is serious but it too shall pass. If we stand together and are united, we will be stronger and come out of it better than ever before,” he said.

After the keynote address, Charlie Manio, PANA Foundation chairman and director for advertising and promotions of Cebu Pacific introduced the inducting officer, newly-appointed Press Secretary Cerge Remonde, who led the 2009 PANA Board of Directors and PANA Foundation Board of Trustees in their oath of office. After the induction, Remonde expressed his congratulatory message to the new set of officers for 2009.

Abby Chan, PANA director and vice president for Marketing Services of Citibank, N.A. presented the rebirth of PANATA Awards, which is PANA’s recognition of its members for promoting Filipino values. A 2009 economic forecast by Anton Periquet, chairman and managing director of Deutsche Regis Partners, followed. Special awards were also given to certain individuals, PANA member companies and friends of PANA who gave their all-out support to the various programs of PANA and PANA Foundation in the Association’s year-long golden anniversary celebration.
